Neil Donnelly to lead property portfolio

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa Limited (Whai Rawa) has appointed Neil Donnelly as General Manager of Property Development.

With over 17 years of experience in the property industry, Neil joins the commercial arm of the Auckland hapū from the Todd Property Group, where he played an active role in some of New Zealand’s largest residential developments.

Neil’s previous roles have involved strategic planning and leadership, and extensive stakeholder engagement with neighbours, local communities and iwi for various projects.

Neil will take the lead on Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Properties’ (NWOP) property portfolio. Its projects to-date include the award winning whānau housing development Kāinga Tuatahi in Ōrākei, and Kowhai Ridge, a successful joint venture with Fletcher Living. Current projects include Oneoneroa on the North Shore, the first major Auckland residential development headed by a local iwi, and the redevelopment at Eastcliffe retirement village in Ōrākei.

Whai Rawa’s CEO, Andrew Crocker says the appointment of Neil Donnelly comes at the perfect time as the organisation builds momentum with NWOP.

“Our success in the property market is essential as it allows us to reinvest back into the hapū and fund important initiatives and projects, including more papakāinga housing.

“Whai Rawa has a long-term view for its property portfolio, and Neil brings the skill and experience the company needs to grow and maximise the assets of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.”

On his appointment Neil says he is excited by the opportunity to work with a property developer that has a long-term vision and goal to better the future of its hapū members.

“I’m hugely excited to join the team at Whai Rawa. Their business objectives and intent are unlike typical developers. I look forward to working with the team with a big focus on community, enhancing the environment and honouring the cultural principles of the hapū,” says Neil

NWOP operates under strong values including kaitiakitanga and sustainability, which influences how the team operates and puts significant focus on protecting the environment and giving back to the community.
